About Us

Our approach helps your body cope better with the effects of three types of daily stressors - physical, chemical, emotional - by allowing your nervous system to function at its best.

Providing Chiropractic care with an expertly tailored care plan to your needs.

We are a family wellness practice, run by Xander and Elda van der Walt. We met through our mutual passion for Chiropractic and named the practice after our daughter Andrea, who had her first Chiropractic treatment as soon as she was born. We are committed to providing the highest quality of care to all age groups – from babies, through to the elderly.

Daily, we are subjected to stressors (physical, chemical and mental/emotional), which accumulate and may result in decreased health potential. Health is defined as: ‘A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity’ (World Health Organisation).

Chiropractic is about establishing wellness and prevention, rather than treating symptoms and the effects of illness. Chiropractic is based on two foundations:

  1. The body is a self-healing and self-regulating organism and,
  2. The nervous system is the master controller of the body.

Interference to nervous system function causes interference to the body’s ability to function, heal and regulate. Chiropractors locate, analyse and remove nervous system interferences (subluxations) through gentle spinal corrections (adjustments) to allow for a greater expression of life and function to every cell, tissue, organ and system in your body, rather than masking pain / symptoms.

WHILE OTHER PROFESSIONS ARE CONCERNED WITH CHANGING THE ENVIRONMENT TO SUIT THE WEAKENED BODY, CHIROPRACTIC IS CONCERNED WITH STRENGTHENING THE BODY TO SUIT THE ENVIRONMENT.

After identifying which vertebrae have lost their normal position, motion or alignment, a specific manual thrust is applied to free up “stuck” spinal joints.

Activator Method

A system of spinal evaluation, combined with a handheld adjusting instrument that delivers a consistent, low force thrust.

Activator Method
Thompson Drops

Thompson Drops

The Thompson Technique uses a drop table, which provides very specific, weight adjusted, high velocity (speed), low amplitude (impact) adjustments to perform spinal or joint adjustments.

Sacro Occipital Technique

Helps normalise the relationship between the pelvis and the head, using gravity to make the necessary correction.

Trigger Point Therapy

A trigger point is defined as: ‘a hyperirritable spot, usually within a taut band of skeletal muscle, which is painful on compression and can give rise to characteristic referred pain, motor dysfunction’. Each muscle group has a characteristic referral pattern.

By releasing the irritated spot, pain is reduced, and muscle function improved.
